PRINCIPLES
Providing information is not the same as describing what is happening in a country or how events occurring in other countries affect us. The importance of a person’s background and outlook cannot be overstated. Our reporters and editors put a premium on focusing on real people, rather than faceless corporations, to demonstrate the impact of news events on readers’ everyday lives. Every story needs to work hard to win over readers in this age of short attention spans. If a news article doesn’t try to grab the reader’s attention or convince them of something, they’ll just go to another site, turn the page, or change the channel.
Even as our responsibilities and methods evolve, the guiding principles we follow remain constant. No matter what, we must always act in a totally unbiased, fair, and honest manner. What we have here are proven facts backed by expert testimony. We look into all potential explanations thoroughly.
Accuracy is a commodity whose worth cannot be overstated. As soon as a mistake is noticed, it needs to be corrected. Articles that have already been published or broadcast should not have infrequent or hesitant corrections made to them. They should be written to repair the damage as completely as possible.
This work we do is crucial. Any news outlet that promises to publish stories within 24 hours must prioritize speed above all else. However, dependability will always take precedence over speed.
It would be impossible to overstate the significance of taste. Some of the key details are so vile they’re unbelievable. Don’t go about it like that unless you absolutely have to.
DUTIES OF THE STAFF
KingsDealz reporters, editors, and managers are all responsible for ensuring that the site’s policies are followed. With so many ways to gather, present, and disseminate news, it’s difficult to establish universally applicable standards. As part of their jobs, our employees must follow a variety of established procedures.
Important methods in this category include the ones listed below:
No story or identifying details about any person should be shared or revealed if there is even the slightest suspicion that they might be false. If you are hesitant, just remove it. But don’t let that dissuade you from giving another perspective a fair shot before you make up your mind. Real doubt should come from weighing all the available information thoughtfully.
Any information that has a questionable origin should be backed up by references to reliable authorities. In case your submission is rejected, you should get your proof ready for publication.
Try to remain neutral when discussing recent events that could affect a conflicting party. Be sure to present each side of the argument with equal weight.
Just state the facts without adding any commentary or opinion. It is not appropriate for reporters to include their thoughts in the text. Intriguingly, they found… In order for the reader to grasp complex issues, reliable background information and authoritative interpretation are required.
Find and fix mistakes as soon as possible. Alarmingly low levels of public trust in the news media. Many factors contribute to the widespread mistrust of public figures, including inaccuracy, carelessness, disregard for public opinion, inherent bias or unfairness, and other signs of arrogance.
KingsDealz has the power to shift public opinion by sticking to the facts and maintaining a firm commitment to objectivity. We should not be so quick to dismiss journalists who refuse to accept criticism and complaints from other journalists.
Information published in the media can have negative effects on both ordinary people and large corporations. As a result of KingsDealz’s reliability and importance, management and staff must respond quickly and empathetically to any mistakes that are made. It makes no difference if the complaining party is an isolated, frightened individual or the legal team of a powerful person.
It is the responsibility of all employees to bring to the attention of the appropriate supervisor any false or misleading reports that need to be corrected.
Moral Conduct
As journalists, we have an obligation to uphold the profession’s honor and our own reputations by avoiding actions that might undermine trust in the media. As we report on politicians who betray the public trust, carers who exploit their positions of trust, and business executives who put profits before principles, we have a responsibility to uphold the highest ethical standards and to give the impression that we do so.
Ethical concerns may arise at any point during this investigation, and it will be difficult to account for them all. However, in an effort to expand rather than confine our efforts, we adhere to the following principles.
Self-respect and professional pride are essential to maintaining moral conduct in the newsroom.
The website KingsDealz is self-sufficient. Employees should not give their approval to anything that could damage our reputation.
KingsDealz does not pay its journalists for their participation in interviews, photos, or audio/video recordings.
KingsDealz reporters never stretch the truth to make a story more interesting. They always say that they are reporters.
IMPARTIALITY
Being impartial is like going for a run. If you want your muscles to look toned and strong, you need to work them out regularly.
An excellent way to practice objectivity is to periodically check in with one’s self and ask, “Am I being as unbiased, honest, and fair as I can be?”
Other Principles of Objectivity
In politics, the law, or any other field where there is contention, all sides are given the same consideration. All statements made by parties with competing interests, whether they are used together in the same story or at different times, should be given equal weight.
However, whenever possible, try to obtain contrasting viewpoints for simultaneous publication.
In the event that an assault on another entity has been reported, any official responses to the allegations will also be shared. If you are unable to find a reliable resource, say so and keep looking.
The expertise of anyone presenting a contrary view should be questioned. Think about whether the report needs to be made if there is no relevant expertise or if the person making the report does not hold a position of authority.
QUOTATIONS
Paraphrases are the story’s blood. Their very slight flush in the cheeks conveys emotion. They add credibility, significance, and weight to what you’re saying.
Any misuse could cause problems for writers and publishers. Some media outlets provide some leeway when it comes to quotations. If anyone tries to alter what has been posted on KingsDealz, they will face severe consequences.
Direct quotations of people are almost always presented in a formal English style. We correct obvious grammatical errors that would make the writing look bad otherwise. We edit out the ums, uhs, and ughs from your speech, along with any other unnecessary filler. We correct misspelled words and other typos in electronic messages like emails and text messages. However, we do not change the quotations when this is not the case.
Strange spellings and grammar aren’t typically used to show dialects or mispronunciations, but they can be effective in setting the mood.
A story about pop singer Justin Bieber’s use of Twitter would have been missing an important detail had it been cleaned up or paraphrased to remove this tweet from a teenage fan:
If @justinbieber even reads tweets, I’m not sure why I bother.
Bafflegab quotations, no matter how well-known the original speaker, is often rendered in plain English.
LANGUAGE
There will be no profanity. protecting basic standards of morality.
In addition, a word of caution about translations. We shouldn’t assume that a non-native English speaker can understand us just because we’re speaking English.
If the language being used is not obvious, it should be stated explicitly in interviews and public speeches. Say it in French at a press conference where both French and English are spoken. Note that a translation was used whenever you report on the language of protest signs or the cries of the crowd.
Direct or indirect quotations that are based on a translation rather than the exact words used owe it to the reader to disclose this fact.
OBSCENITY
KingsDealz’s recent transition to an online news outlet has helped the story reach more people than ever before. The number of gatekeepers that stories must pass through before they reach the public has dwindled. Thanks to developments in technology, we no longer have to go through a censored middleman to get our content to our viewers, listeners, and readers.
There is a zero-tolerance policy against obscenity on KingsDealz, which is strictly enforced by management and widely understood throughout the organization.
A news report should never include any profanity, whether written, spoken, or viewed, with the exception of extremely rare and dire emergencies.
Swear words of four letters or more, whether shouted from the crowd or written on an angry protester’s placard, serve no narrative purpose. The use of profanity solely for the sake of using profanity conveys no information to the reader, listener, or observer.
There are times when vulgar language is appropriate in the news. Someone famous for using foul language in public would be an example. In other cases, the use of profanity is necessary to grasp the details or emotions at play in a story.
The reality is, however, that this rarely happens.
Reporters covering a story should always consider alternatives to using foul language before using it. Any transmission of text, audio, or visual content that contains an obscenity requires the approval of a senior Main Desk editor if the word or phrase in question is integral to the story.
DISTURBING CONTENT
It’s possible to find offensive material in any news article. Subjects related to age, race, sex, physical and mental disabilities, and religion can occasionally generate news but should be handled with care.
Define age, race, gender, nationality, appearance, religion, sexual orientation, and any other grouping that could offend others with fairness, sensitivity, and good taste.
SOURCES AND ETHICS
When we make a commitment to keeping something private, we have to follow through. It’s fair to warn potential suppliers that this isn’t a guarantee. Depending on the circumstances, the law may require journalists to reveal their sources.
The terms of verbal agreements with sources are enforceable in a court of law. Before obtaining the information, make sure you and your source both fully understand the terms of the agreement. If you know you won’t be able to follow through on a promise, don’t make it.
One such agreement would be to agree to keep the identity of the source confidential from anyone other than your employer and to refrain from naming the source in the article. You have no way of knowing how the source will react if their identity is accidentally or legally revealed.
KingsDealz will not require or recommend that an employee disobey a court order. It will provide legal counsel to either advise the worker to request a closed hearing or to argue to the court that disclosure is unnecessary in the public interest.
It’s also important for reporters to let their bosses know who they’re getting their information from. It could be anyone from the president to the bureau’s news editor. The situation does not necessitate that everyone in the chain of command is made aware of it. In a delicate situation, an employee may speak with the Editor-in-Chief or the President privately.
Should it become necessary to disclose a source at or above the President’s level, upper management will make every effort to give the original employee advance warning.
Because of the need for absolute secrecy, KingsDealz may not always be able to confirm a highly sensitive news tip with additional sources. In this instance, upper management will confer with the affected worker. We won’t bother bringing it if there’s no way to get it there safely.
Readers should be provided with as much context about the unnamed source as is feasible as part of excellent reporting. This facilitates the reader’s evaluation of the narrative’s value. In no case should you trust information from an untrusted source if its credentials have been falsified? With just a little bit of consideration, you should be able to craft a description that serves both the reader and the source.
So that the story can inform the reader without revealing the character’s identity, it may be crucial to have input from the source on how to phrase such a description.
Some informants, when pressed for more information, might reveal personally identifiable details but insist on remaining anonymous. Confidential information is notoriously difficult to attribute because doing so would be highly misleading (another Economy Department official, who asked for anonymity, said). In general, you should try to work phrases like “It was also learned” into your writing.
The following are additional methods of interacting with anonymous sources:
You can treat the anonymous information from other sources as if it came from KingsDealz. Newspapers and broadcasters should be credited for stories based on information from anonymous sources. It has been reported that unnamed Energy Department officials told Washington
Ideally, the story would make note of the source’s need for anonymity and provide some explanation for why that is the case.
There should be no ambiguity between officials and spokespersons. A spokesperson relays the thoughts and feelings of others, while an official shape those thoughts and feelings.
An invented name should be exposed as soon as possible when referring to a problematic adolescent or welfare family, or when a composite person is used to represent a larger group of people who share similar characteristics. You can’t abuse a tool like that and expect it to keep working. It’s not to be used without first consulting with a superior.
ATTRIBUTION
The dissemination of information through the internet and social networking sites like Facebook has altered the traditional methods of newsgathering. Reporters frequently turn first to the Internet for background information. It can be used for a variety of purposes, such as locating individuals who may have firsthand knowledge of a significant event, identifying news tips or trends, discovering new sources, and verifying historical details.
Copyright laws are strictly enforced for both online and offline publications. Full attribution is required when paraphrasing and quotation marks should be used when a direct quote is used. Avoid plagiarising someone else’s work by always giving credit where credit is due.
CORRECTIVE ACTIONS
Despite our best efforts, mistakes will always occur. Misleading data is being distributed. In such a case, prompt repair should be your top priority.
Online stores typically disappear after 24 hours, though other forms of information may remain online for much longer. Although the contract specifies a maximum retention period for KingsDealz articles, many sites routinely keep the stories up for much longer. Unlike in newspapers, online stories can take many shapes. Due to their status as fresh web news, they can be revised at any time. This suggests that the window of opportunity for completing a Writethru in order to rectify an error is significantly larger than the typical newspaper deadline cycle.
KingsDealz employs the following techniques to deal with story problems:
Writethru A rectification alters either the truth or the language used.
Kills a harmful, untrue, or damaging story that may have legal ramifications.
replacing a dead story with one generated by Writethru Correction Sub.
Appropriate when an error has already been printed and needs to be corrected. It was designed to address the problem and start fresh with the facts. That’s because it only deals with disproven claims.
Privacy
KingsDealz respects its users’ right to personal anonymity. We disagree with any intrusion into another person’s privacy that does not have a valid justification. It is against company policy to make public any employee’s private actions, communications, or meetings unless permission is specifically requested.
We believe that it is important to protect the identities of victims and to avoid using images that degrade the deceased when reporting on tragic events.
Legal Protections for Ideas and Artwork
The following are some types of intellectual property:
