Asus Vivobook Flip 14 (2021) review: Design and Display
The Asus Vivobook Flip 14’s design factor resembles that of earlier iterations quite a bit. You can see equivalent bezels and a keyboard. The manufacturer has, however, put a yellow outline to the enter key to give it a little extra zing. You will see improvements along the function (FN) keys as a result. Another lovely detail is the chrome badge on the lid that reads, “Asus Vivobook.”
Since the laptop has a touchscreen and a 14-inch touch screen that can rotate all the way to the back, a stylus (with two buttons) is included. The kit also includes a magnet attachment to keep the stylus in place. The screen has a Full HD resolution and an 82% screen to body ratio. It has a glossy screen that can show both sharp text and vibrant colours. We enjoyed every single one of the Netflix movies we saw on it. Additionally, we used Photoshop to modify a few pictures, and that was a great experience. If you use Adobe Illustrator to generate a lot of images, the stylus works fantastically.
The fingerprint sensor on the trackpad of the Asus Vivobook Flip 14 is a smart innovation, although the trackpad is a little too small for our tastes. The laptop offers two USB ports, one USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio/MIC, HDMI, and a microSD card slot. Along with the other connectors, the power button is situated on the right side. Overall, the notebook feels solid thanks to its solid hinges, decent plastics, and midnight blue exterior.
Asus Vivobook Flip 14 review: Performance
Interior of the sturdy exterior
The Asus VivobookFlip 14 is really powerful. AMD Ryzen 5000 series CPU (5500U), which is 20–25% quicker than the last generation, powers the notebook. As a result, Windows OS starts up more rapidly, programmes launch quickly, and you may finish your work quickly. 8GB of RAM and 512GB of NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD storage are used to support the 6-Core CPU, which has a maximum clock speed of 2.1GHz. The AMD Radeon onboard display adaptor handles the graphics.
The notebook barely flickered during our tests. It does a great job of handling your regular tasks as well as games like PUBG (at medium settings) at 60 frames per second. However, Asus installed Windows 10 Home because this is more of a work/play computer. We had hoped that this computer would come with Windows 10 Pro. When Windows 11 is completely released, users will be able to update, but only to the Home edition. Although some bloatware was discovered in the OS, thankfully all of it can be uninstalled. Users will receive a free trial of the Microsoft Office 2019 programmes and McAfee antivirus software.
The backlit keyboard on the Asus Vivobook Flip 14 is excellent to use. The laptop’s speakers were tuned by Harman Kardon, thus the sound quality is excellent as well. Although the gadget lacks an ethernet port, it supports the lightning-fast Wi-Fi 6 technology, therefore connectivity to the internet never presented a problem. Zoomcalls worked successfully because the Asus Vivobook Flip 14’s HD-ready camera and several MICs ensured that the other party could clearly hear us. This laptop has a unique performance mode built in. When you need that speed burst to activate, simply press Fn+F.
Verdict
Overall, the performance of the Asus Vivobook Flip 14 is right up there with some of the rival computers. Although some people might think the AMD CPU is inadequate, we did not notice any performance issues during our tests.
The Asus VivobookFlip 14 is incredibly portable because it weighs only 1.5 kg. But will it get hot because of the 18.2mm bezel’s modest size? Well, it didn’t heat up 90% of the time. The only time it got heated was when we played PUBG for a while, but the fan inside kept the temperature tolerable. The battery of the Asus Vivobook Flip 14 is quickly charged using the charger, reaching 60% in about 50 minutes.
Pro:
This laptop’s battery life is very excellent. We were able to get more than 7.5 hours of battery life with light use. Depending on the city you live in, the price at which you may get the notebook is between Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 64,000. This is a fantastic machine to acquire at the price. You should definitely choose this if you enjoy creating, drawing, or simply want a light machine that looks good and works well.
